In conjunction with the ongoing Arab Franchise Expo, Malaysia’s franchise trade mission to Dubai, UAE, is poised to attract investments amounting to RM50 million. Dr. Radzali Hassan, Chairman of the Malaysian Franchise Association, announced the participation of five top Malaysian brands—Marry brown, Kenny Rogers Roasters, US Pizza, UCMAS, Old Town Coffee including other top brands for early child education life style services sector and personal care—in the Arab Franchise Expo scheduled for September 21, 2023, at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Dubai.

Dr. Radzali Hassan highlighted the significance of the Arab Franchise Expo as a crucial platform for the Malaysian franchise industry to explore opportunities and diversify their franchise ventures into the Arab World. The mission’s overarching goal is to foster the expansion of Malaysian brands across 22 Arab countries while facilitating connections with potential investors through a dedicated business matching program. He also added that “Malaysia has positioned itself as a global hub for halal franchises, leveraging its expertise in halal certification, a diverse culinary landscape, and a strong Islamic economy.”

 Malaysia is home to more than 500 active franchise brands, about 70% of which are of domestic origin and is on track to be the regional hub in South East Asia for the franchise industry.  He further emphasized the impressive track record of Malaysian franchise brands, which have achieved global recognition, with more than 68 brands establishing a presence in 80 countries. In 2023, Malaysia’s franchise industry recorded sales of approximately RM30 billion, reflecting a substantial increase from RM14.6 billion in 2020.

This strategic trade mission underscores Malaysia’s commitment to leveraging international expos like the Arab Franchise Expo to promote its thriving franchise sector, enhance global visibility, and forge partnerships that drive economic growth and cross-border collaboration.

Arab Franchise Expo 2023 will feature more than 100 franchise brands – from emerging, franchise newcomers to medium-size companies and large, well-established franchisors. These brands encompass a sweeping range of industries, from restaurants and home services to fitness, beauty, caregiving and more. Aspiring business owners can invest as little as AED 100,000 to launch their own business through franchise route.

Major highlights of the event will be the One Day Expo Format which will include Franchise Exhibition on an affordable cost for Franchisors, Conferences, One-One Investor Meet and the Arab Franchise Awards.  Award categories will include Best Franchise of the Year , Franchisee of the year in Multiple categories of Franchise Industry. It will also recognize individual areas of excellence in franchising and many more.

Representations more than 25 nations are expected to attend at this Arab Franchise Expo, Franchise Conference and Awards event. They will be able to find out about innovations, rising trends and growth plans within franchise brands.
