The highly anticipated China Franchise Expo, organised by China Chain and Franchise Association, officially kicked off today in Shanghai International Exhibition Centre, drawing a massive turnout of attendees, investors, and industry leaders. The international event has brought together over 100 brands from more than 20 countries, creating a dynamic platform for business expansion, collaboration, and innovation. The energy on the show floor was palpable, with a diverse mix of global and local exhibitors showcasing products and franchise opportunities across food, retail, and services.
China Chain Store & Franchise Association (CCFA) is the official representative of the retailing & franchise industry in China. Currently, there are 800 enterprise members with 160,000 outlets, including domestic & overseas retailers, franchisers, suppliers, and relevant organizations. By the end of 2008, the total sales of CCFA member Retailers exceeded 200 billion USD, accounting for 13% of the total social consumption goods retail of China.
Leoli, the Expo’s Director, expressed great enthusiasm over the strong response, noting that the event is not just about international brands entering China, but also about empowering local Chinese brands to go global. “This show is a gateway for Chinese enterprises to expand internationally. We’re creating opportunities for local talent and innovation to shine on the world stage,” Leoli stated. With China’s rapidly evolving consumer market and a growing interest in franchising, the expo is positioned as a key driver in shaping the future of global franchising.

A significant international presence came from the Malaysian Franchise Association and exhibitors from Taiwan, both of whom brought more than 20 brands to the Shanghai event. Their participation highlights the growing regional collaboration in franchising and the increasing interest in tapping into the vast Chinese consumer base. Many of these brands are seeking partnerships, joint ventures, and master franchisees to anchor their growth in the mainland.
The event is expected to run over several days, with business forums, franchise matchmaking sessions, and brand presentations scheduled throughout. As the expo unfolds, it not only strengthens cross-border business ties but also emphasizes Shanghai’s role as a hub for global franchising. With such a diverse and international lineup, the China Franchise Expo is set to be a springboard for future success stories in the world of franchising.
